ARGOS Modellraketen Flugtag - Juni 2015
Project name : Fly-A-Rocket
Rocket name : FALCO-4 (it stands for Flight Attitude Linearly COntrolled, 4th iteration)
Team members :
- Danylo Malyuta (GNC and avionics engineer)
- Gautier Rouaze (RCS mechanical design)
- John Maslov (GPS tracking)
- Mikael Gaspar (Launch systems and ground support)
- Nikolay Mullin (Rocket design and systems architecture supervisor)
- Raimondo Pictet (CFD analysis)
- Xavier Collaud (Rocket airframe design)
Organization : Space Engineering Center EPFL (eSpace)
Project goal/description : to develop and evaluate a cold-gas reaction control system for the vertical stabilization of a model rocket at low speeds. Should the reaction control system prove to be an effective stabilization method, it will be used in a series of next projects to develop and test fly an actively stabilized rocket capable of powered vertical landing (like the SpaceX rockets). On the other hand, should the cold gas reaction control system not be an effective control method, this project will have taught the team members exactly what must be changed in order to develop a control system that will allow for powered vertical landings.
